Went for a tasting as part of a broader wine tour, Joseph Chromy was by far the highlight of the day. Great venue, great wine but staff member Sandy, who conducted the wine tasting for the group was the best! Sandy was so friendly, passionate and knowledgeable, she definitely made the experience so much better with her enthusiastic delivery and appropriate amount of humour. So much so we returned the following day to purchase some bottle of wine. We were lucky enough to bump into Sandy again, she was still smiling and not only remembered our faces but knew exactly what wines we were back to buy. Thanks Sandy for making this a highlight!

Wine Tasting Our host Sandy was vibrant and super knowledgeable about the all various wines available at Josef Chromy. The gardens were amazing and our overall visit extremely pleasant. The antipasto platters are a must too.

Booked online and dealt with Sandy from the Cellar door to organise our day, was super helpful and flexible to align with our goals of heading to other vineyards on the east Tamar. Met with Rachel (super informative and fun) on the day and started with a NV Brut Cuvée was special as we heard about Josef’s story. Checking out the grounds and the wine making process was great. The lunch matched and exceed the exceptionally good weather we were lucky to get.

Had a tastings an lunch here as part of a wine tour. Great way to start. 4 generous serving in the tasting with cheese and fruit. View over the vineyard while enjoying the wine added another dimension - stunning scenery. Meal was also top notch and accompanying wine just as good. Thoroughly recommended.

We booked the Josef Chromy wineme wine tasting and lunch through Red Balloon using a voucher we were gifted. We were met by a lovely lady who arranged our tasting, and then went through to the restaurant for a delicious two course meal with accompanying wines. As usual the service was excellent and the food delightful.

This our 2nd visit and wont be our last. Great food with fantastic service from Fiona. Complimented by top quality wine and great atmosphere - definitely worth the 5 star rating.

We arrived in Launceston on Saturday morning and our request to move our tour on Sunday was accommodated. Coordinated with Elle and she was so helpful! Our tour was led by Rachel (I hope I remembered that correctly). She is the ever-knowledgeable cellar door staff who is instrumental in growing the wine club. Her dedication is unmatched! As it rained sporadically, she lent us her umbrellas and didn’t even flinch as she got wet. You don’t see that kind of professionalism daily. As we went on a Sunday, she led us through production areas that would normally be closed to the public and talked about the different processes involved in producing pinot noir, pinot gris, Chardonnay, sparkling wine, etc. She is such a gem! She answered all our questions and we were so Impressed by how she could retain all that information - from Josef Chromy’s rags to riches story, to his positive impact by employing hundreds of Tasmanians, and how each member of the staff are equally important (from the wine growers or those in charge of viticulture, the warehouse staff, the expert winemakers, the sommeliers, to the restaurant staff). We didn’t realise how much science and engineering were involved in building, sustaining, and growing the Joseph Chromy empire. The wine tour was fascinating enough, but our experience was amplified by the scenery and our lunch experience at the restaurant. We had paired wines with our meals and the staff were just extremely pleasant. We had such an amazing time. We will definitely come back when we find ourselves in Launceston again, especially for the Delikat Riesling.

This one ticked all the boxes on our Tassie tour with an excellent wine tasting and a delicious deli platter lunch in the garden under the trees of a beautiful sunny day. The wines were uniformly good without any real standouts except for the sparkling which was really good. But it was really that everything came together - the wine, location, food and weather - that made it such an exceptional visit on our Tassie tour.
